Produced by the ICRC, the International Committee of the Red Cross, a movie series called “From the field” show the efforts of the Red Cross worldwide.
Darfur, Indonesia, Uganda, Nepal…. over the past twelve months, ICRC news cameras have traveled to conflict zones which are often inaccessible to main-stream journalists. They have been able to record the realities behind the news headlines, to show the impact of war on the lives of ordinary people, and the efforts of the Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement to bring relief.
The result is a brand-new series of films offering insight direct From the Field. Short and to the point, the films show what it’s like for civilians living in war-affected areas today. By meeting and talking to the victims of war, as well as ICRC delegates, the films create a vivid picture of the problems of living and working in conflict zones. How does it feel to be captured and then escape from armed fighters? What are the problems of living without a functioning water supply or basic medical care? How do families displaced from their homes cope with day to day life? Each film also shows the range and scale of Red Cross/Red Crescent and ICRC work to help and protect the victims of war in a variety of countries and contexts.
